Patricia Ann (Pat) Sorrell Walker, Memphis resident, retired nurse with extended family and church friends in Fayette County and wife of the late James (Jim) Walker died Saturday afternoon, November 3, 2012 at the St. Francis Hospital in Memphis where she had been a patient for four days. She was 74 years of age and died following a brief illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Walker were conducted at 2:30 P.M. Thursday, November 8th at the Whitten Memorial Baptist Church in Memphis with Pastor Jeff Shipley of the church officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.
Mrs. Walker was born February 23, 1938 in Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell Sorrell and Lexie R. Davis Sorrell. She received her education in the Ohio Public School System and completed her nursing education, preparing her for a lifelong career as a caregiver. Mrs. Walker was married June 20, 1964 to James (Jim) Walker, who preceded her in death on May 10th of this year.
Mrs. Walker was a devoted member of the Whitten Memorial Baptist Church, where she participated in numerous church activities. She was a caregiver for much of her life and served as a volunteer for various organizations as long as health permitted. She and her late husband were responsible in earlier years for the monthly newsletters at the Whitten Memorial Baptist Church.
Mrs. Walker leaves no living relatives and is survived by her loving Whitten Memorial Baptist Church family, who cared for her needs in recent years.
Pallbearers were church members and memorials are requested to the Whitten Memorial Baptist Church, 6773 Macon Road, Memphis, TN 38134.
