Patricia “Pat” Ann Diggs Farley, resident of the Mt. Pleasant Community near Collierville, native Fayette Countian and wife of the late Bill Farley died Wednesday morning, May 2, 2012 at her residence. She was 61 years of age and died following an illness of several months.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Farley were conducted at 1 P.M. Friday, May 4th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Pastor Doug Bell of the CrossPointe Christian Fellowship in Olive Branch, MS officiating. Interment followed in the New Bethel Cemetery near Rossville. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Farley was born May 8, 1950 in Somerville, the daughter of Sallie Rhea Diggs and the late Johnnie Diggs. She was educated in the Fayette County Public School System and was a graduate of Fayette County High School. She was married to William Ray “Bill” Farley, long distance truck operator for the Aqua Glass Company in Adamsville, TN before his death on August 19, 2007.
Mrs. Farley was employed in earlier years in the Fayette County Property Tax Assessor’s Office and in later years was a homemaker for her family. She was a member of the Pleasants Christian Church near Rossville and was a former resident of Fayette County and Henderson County, TN before moving to the Mt. Pleasant Community to be near her family five years ago.
Mrs. Farley will be remembered as a person devoted to her family and enjoyed special times with family and friends. She was an avid animal lover throughout her life, enjoying both pet goats and her pet dogs, Rufus and Jack. She was a lifelong resident of West Tennessee and North Mississippi.
Mrs. Farley is survived by two daughters, Kelly Cothern (Brent) of Mt. Pleasant, MS, Amy Byrd (Adam) of Lamar, MS; her son, Scott Farley (Jennifer) of Olive Branch, MS; her mother, Mrs. Sallie Rhea Diggs of Williston; three sisters, Linda McCaskill of Somerville, Anita Flanagan of Williston, Beverly German of Williston; and seven grandchildren.
Mrs. Farley was preceded in death by her brother, Johnnie Diggs, who died July 3, 2011.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Hardy Flanagan, Tommy McCaskill, Alan German, Wylie Flanagan, Will Diggs and Rockie Ellison.
The family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
