Patricia Lynn “Patsy” Peak Reeves, longtime resident of the Williston Community, retired Williston Postmaster and wife of the late Elton Reeves died Wednesday morning, January 9, 2013 at the Bolivar General Hospital. She was 74 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Reeves will be conducted at 11 A.M. Friday, January 11th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. David Reeves of the Midway Baptist Church in Whiteville officiating. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery at Williston. A visitation for Mrs. Reeves will be from 6 to 8 Thursday evening at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Reeves was born February 7, 1938 in Memphis, the daughter of Claudine Chambers Peak and the late William Matt Peak. She received her education in the Fayette County Public School System and was a lifelong resident of Fayette County. Mrs. Reeves was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Elton Reeves, a rural mail carrier for the Somerville Post Office, before his death in 1993.
Mrs. Reeves was a member of the Macon Church of Christ and served as postmaster for the Williston Community for 26 years before her retirement. She was devoted to the Williston Community and developed a close friendship with many of the area residents while assisting them with their personal needs and operating the Williston Library that adjoined the Post Office.
An avid fisherman in earlier years, Mrs. Reeves enjoyed fishing and outdoor activities at the Reeves Lake House located at Cold Creek. Mrs. Reeves was a family-oriented person and served as a caregiver for family members throughout her life.
Mrs. Reeves is survived by her daughter, Debbie Lee (Steve) of Somerville; two sons, Richard “Ricky” Reeves (Debbie) of Williston, Randy Reeves of Williston; her mother, Claudine Chambers Peak of Somerville; two brothers, Billy Peak (Faye) of Collierville, Terry Peak of Somerville; five grandchildren, Dr. Greg Reeves, Jennifer Kee, Kristy Taylor, Keri Carter, Amy Nix; and eleven great grandchildren.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers will be Russell Peak, Greg Reeves, Dillon Nix, Jason Kee, Dennis Toll and Corbin Toll.
