Patsy Ray Briscoe, age 85, resident of Somerville, departed this life Friday, November 25, 2016 at the National Healthcare Center in Somerville.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Briscoe were conducted at 11 A.M. Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Danny Crosby speaking. Interment was private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.
Mrs. Briscoe was born September 22, 1931 in Blytheville, AR. She received her education in the Bartlett school system and graduated from the Nicholas Blackwell High School, currently known as Bartlett High School. She married in 1952 and later worked from 1963 thru 1980 for Gordon Transports. She loved the coast and moved to Destin, FL in 1990 and lived there for many years. Mrs. Briscoe was passionate about traveling and enjoyed several trips abroad and traveling with her family and friends. She was an avid reader and had a special love for arts, history and foreign language.
Mrs. Briscoe is survived by her three daughters, Jessica Evans (David) of Eads, TN, Phyllis Ray Weems of Memphis, TN, Carol Diffee of Collierville, TN; one son, Stan Ray (Diane) of Freeport, FL; one sister, Pansy Hess of Destin, FL; two brothers, Mack Goodwin of Plainfield, IL and Bill Goodwin of Bowling Green, KY; five grandchildren, Heather Berg, Holly Mallory, David Michael Evan, Lindsey Baker and Clayton Diffee; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert O. Goodwin and Helen McPheters Goodwin.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Shelby County Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, 713 S. Mendenhall Road, Memphis, TN 38117 or the charity of the donors choice.
