Patsy "Pat" (Gann) Davis

Patsy “Miss Pat” Gann Davis, resident of the Oakland Community, retired owner of Sa’Vons Restaurant in Oakland and wife of Marvin Davis departed this life Friday evening, July 19, 2013 at her residence. She was 72 years of age and died following an illness of six months.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Davis were conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday, July 24th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Ron Westmoreland of the Bethel Baptist Church in Walls, Mississippi officiating. Special music was provided by Nicki and Frank Downing, Pat Miller and David Staples. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.

Mrs. Davis was born May 25, 1941 in Tupelo, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Gann and Mattie Long Gann. She received her education in the Arkansas and Mississippi Public School Systems. In earlier years, she was a resident of Pontotoc, Mississippi and was married December 22, 1956 to Marvin Davis, a printer for the Paulsen Printing Company in Memphis, who survives.

Mrs. Davis had been involved in corporate hospitality and food services for much of her life. She was the owner of Sa’Vons Restaurant in Oakland for a number of years and in recent years served as cafeteria manager for the Methodist Hospital in Somerville before her retirement. She will be remembered for her culinary skills and for her love of preparing food for her many customers, family and friends.

She and her family had been residents of the Oakland Community for over 40 years and she was of the Baptist faith. She loved life, was a dedicated Christian and devoted to her family and friends.

In addition to her husband of 56 years, Mrs. Davis is survived by two daughters, Yvonne Bullard (Jerry) of Memphis, Sandra Hinton (Brian) of Oakland; two sisters, Jo Tankersley of Oakland, Kathy Sharp of Oakland; her brother, Benny Gann of Pontotoc, MS; four grandchildren, Ray Walker, Joy Shupe, Victoria Oliver, Bo Walker; and four great grandchildren.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Jerry Bullard, Michael Shupe, Brian Hinton, Ray Walker, Bo Walker, George Hill and Reed Shupe.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
