PATTIE JANE EUBANKS PERKINS, resident of Gallaway, died at 4:20 A.M. Saturday, April 5, 2008, at the Methodist North Hospital in Memphis where she had been a patient since March 15th. She was 70 years of age and died following a brief illness.
Funeral services for Mrs. Perkins were conducted at 2 P.M. Tuesday, April 8th at the Gallaway First Baptist Church at Gallaway with Rev. ron Grunewald, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Walls Cemetery at Braden. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home - West Chapel of Oakland.
Mrs. Perkins was born August 2, 1937, in Fayette County, the daughter of the late Tommie Lee Eubanks and the late Ida Lou Farrell Eubanks. She was educated in the public school system of Fayette County and was married April 4, 1956, to James Moore Perkins, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Perkins was a homemaker and was employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse for the Shelby County Nursing Center in Memphis for a number of years before her retirement in 1994. Mrs. Perkins was a devout Christian and was a lifelong member of the Gallaway First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Perkins was a lifelong resident of the Gallaway area of Fayette County. Her interests included flower & vegetable gardening and she enjoyed her animals. An published poet, Mrs. Perkins was known for her caregiving skills, having been the primary caregiver for her beloved husband and also for her mother-in-law.
Mrs. Perkins is survived by her daughters, Janet Leigh Bean (Gregory) of Millington, Pamela Gail Eads of Gallaway, Vicki Dale Cochran of Memphis, Valerie Jamece Johnson (Albert) of Gallaway; her son, Gary Moore Perkins (Terrie) of Covington; three brothers, Opal Eubanks of Hatiesburg, MS, Jerry Lee Eubanks of Memphis, Paul Edward Eubanks of August, GA; 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers Gregory Bean, Albert Johnson, Brett Eads, Phillip Perkins, Jack Merkle, Steven Perkins, Jason Cochran and Albert Perkins.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Gallaway First Baptist Church.
