Paul Douglas Jones

Paul Douglas Jones, age 72, resident of the Hickory Withe Community and husband of Betty Klenke Jones, departed this life Wednesday morning, September 7, 2016 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Jones were conducted at 11 A.M. Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Jerry Duffer officiating. Interment followed in the Jones Family Cemetery in Flatwoods, Tennessee. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Jones was born April 5, 1944 in Milan, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Phillip Sylvester Jones and Dorothea Bromley Jones. He was a graduate of Frayser High School in Shelby County and was married August 13, 1966 to the former Betty Klenke. Mr. Jones was a member of the Somerville Church of Christ and a resident of the West Tennessee area all of his life. He served as a Master Electrician for over 50 years and was a member of the I.B.E.W. Local 474. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed special times with his family, especially his grandchildren, and led a Prison Ministry.

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 50 years, Betty Klenke Jones of Hickory Withe; his daughter, Dr. Anjeanette Hall (Bob) of Savannah, TN; his son, Paul Briceson Jones (Melissa) of Germantown, TN; his sister, Carolyn Dorothea Gibbs (James) of Nashville, TN; his brother, Phillip Jones (Kathryn) of Hernando, MS; and six grandchildren: Allison, Carson, Ian, Sam, Carter and Brooks.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Phillip Jones, Emery McIntosh, Ian Hall, Frank House, Darrell Beard and John Batdorf.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Somerville Church of Christ, Guyana Mission Work, 15925 Highway 64, Somerville, TN 38068, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148 or the charity of the donor’s choice.
