Paul Kevin Prather, Sr.

MR. PAUL KEVIN PRATHER, SR., resident of Somerville, native of Mounds City, MO and retired pilot at Federal Express died Monday morning, September 5, 2011 at his home. He was 61 years of age and died following an extended battle with cancer.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Prather will be at 10 A.M. Friday, September 9 th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel in Oakland with Rev. Rob Mullins, minister of Crossroads Baptist Church in Cordova officiating. Interment will follow in the Fayette County Memorial Park on U.S. Highway 64. Arrangements are provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.

A native of Mounds City, MO, Mr. Prather was born October 12, 1949 to Helen Jane Hinkle Prather of Somerville and the late Edwin G. Prather. Mr. Prather was educated in the Mounds City, MO Public School System and was married May 18, 1974 to the former Nadene Smith, who survives.

He was employed with Federal Express as a pilot for 10 years before his retirement. Mr. Prather will be remembered as a family oriented person who enjoyed bow hunting, chess, sports, weight lifting and flying.

In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. Prather is survived by three daughters, Hannah R. Hart (Ryan) of Cordova, Helen E. Prather of Somerville, Alayna C. Prather of Somerville, five sons, Paul K. Prather, Jr. (Molly) of Cordova, John T. Prather of Los Angeles, CA, Trevor A. Prather of Lakeland, Nathanael P. Prather of Lakeland and Joel W. Prather of Lakeland. In addition to his father, Mr. Prather was preceded in death by his brother, Eric E. Prather.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Nehemiah Project Fund at Crossroads Baptist Church, 1605 N. Germantown Parkway, #111 - 227, Cordova, TN  38016.
