PAUL THOMAS ROGERS, a resident of Cordova and Employee of Bowman Works Concrete Contractors in the Hickory Withe Community died at 3 P.M. Sunday, June 7, 2009 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis where he had been a patient for one month. He was 56 years of age and died following a brief illness.
Funeral services for Mr. Rogers were conducted at 2:30 P.M. Wednesday, June 10th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Dr. Wayne Webb, Pastor of the Macon Road Baptist Church in Memphis, officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-West Chapel of Oakland.
Mr. Rogers was born July 1, 1952 in Lavon, Texas and was a Graduate of the Connecticut High School. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Rice Rogers, II.
Mr. Rogers had been involved in the construction business throughout his life and at the time of his death was serving as the Senior Estimator for the Bowman Works Concrete Contractors in the Hickory Withe Community.
He was an active member of the Macon Road Baptist Church in Memphis and was an enthusiastic sports fan who enjoyed hockey and the Dallas Cowboys.
Mr. Rogers will be remembered as a person of integrity with Christian values and a sincere friend to many.
Survivors of Mr. Rogers include his daughter, Ashlee Youngblood and son-in-law James Youngblood of Cordova; mother, Pamela Rogers; four sisters: Mary Rogers, Jane Rogers, Connie Rogers and Pamela Rogers and two brothers, Mark Rogers and Michael Rogers.
Those honored to serve as casket bearers were Ronnie Griffin, Sam Kirkland, Brian O'Brian, John Chaney, Ken McDaniel and Tony Fincher.
