PAULINE ROBBINS WRIGHT, a longtime resident of the Somerville Community and wife of the late Herbert Wright died Tuesday morning, March 30, 2010 at the Methodist Hospital Fayette in Somerville where she had been a patient for five days. She was 89 years of age and died following a brief illness.
Funeral services for Mrs. Wright were conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, April 2nd at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with a longtime family friend, Coach Tim Ellison of Madison, Mississippi, officiating. Interment followed in the Melrose Cemetery at Whiteville. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.
A native of the Fayette Corner Community near Whiteville, Mrs. Wright was born July 20, 1920. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tommie Tate Robbins and Emilie Augusta Fergie Robbins. She received her education in the Whiteville area public school system and was married December 11, 1937 to Herbert E. Wright, well known retired Somerville Funeral Director who died December 28, 1992.
Mrs. Wright was a longtime member of the Church of Christ and was a lifelong resident of the Somerville and Whiteville areas. She was a devoted homemaker and was also associated with her family in the operation of family businesses located in the Somerville and Whiteville Communities before her retirement.
Known as an energetic and active person to all who knew her, Mrs. Wright was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star and participated in area 5K runs and other events sponsored by local charities.
Mrs. Wright fulfilled a longtime dream of parachuting from an airplane at the age of 79. She will be remembered as a person with a deep love for her family, her community and her church friends.
Mrs. Wright is survived by her daughters, Barbara W. Walls and Judy W. Harvey both of Somerville; her grandsons, Cole Wright Harvey and Clayton Wright Harvey, both of Rangeley, Maine; two sisters, Tommy R. Godwin of Black Oak, Arkansas and Mattie Sue Conner of Whiteville; a brother, Thomas Oscar Robbins of Bolivar and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Alberta Davis.
Those honored to serve as casket bearers were Carl Conner, Murry Davis, Terry Davis, John M. Holley, Donald Peterson, Jerry Peterson, Larry Peterson and Thomas Allen Robbins.
