Pearl (Crumley) Featherstone

March 23, 1915 — December 9, 2011

Mrs. Pearl Crumley Featherstone, longtime resident of the Hebron/Bethlehem Community in Fayette County, retired employee of Fayette Academy and wife of the late Charles Craig Featherstone departed this life Friday morning, December 9, 2011 at the National Health Care Center in Somerville where she had been a resident for three years. She was 96 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Featherstone will be conducted at 2 P.M. Sunday, December 11th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. H.B. Fields, pastor of the Lafferty Circuit Methodist Churches in Fayette County, officiating. Interment will follow in the Hebron Cemetery in the Hebron/Bethlehem Community. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.

A native of Giles County, Tennessee, Mrs. Featherstone was born March 23, 1915, the daughter of the late G.W. Crumley and the late Janie Pilkinton Crumley. She received her education in the Giles County Public School System and was the wife of the late Charles Craig Featherstone, who died May 25, 1977. Mrs. Featherstone was of the Baptist faith and had been a resident of Fayette County for 52 years.

She was employed in earlier years at the Somerville Manufacturing Company and in later years received much enjoyment from being associated with the students and faculty of Fayette Academy, where she was employed in the food service department before her retirement in 2003. Mrs. Featherstone will be remembered as a family-oriented person who had a special love for preparing food for her family and others in her community.

She enjoyed gardening and flowers throughout her life and in later years received pleasure in making trips to the casinos with family and friends. Mrs. Featherstone had been a resident of the Bethlehem/Hebron Community for 41 years and was known by many for her neat appearance and kind mannerisms, welcoming both family members and friends to her home.

Mrs. Featherstone is survived by three daughters, Tommie Pattat (Billy), Laura Carraway (Morton), Bonnie Featherstone, all of the Hebron/Bethlehem Community; three sons, C.W. Featherstone and Jerry H. Featherstone, Sr., both of Stanton, Terry W. Featherstone (Diane) of the Yum Yum Community; her sister, Erma Beake of Memphis; 13 grandchildren including one grandson that she considered a son and lived with Mrs. Featherstone in past years, Jerry H. (Jay) Featherstone of Hebron/Bethlehem Community. She also is survived by 13 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Mrs. Featherstone was preceded in death by two sisters; four brothers; her grandson, C.W. (Rocky) Featherstone, Jr.; and her great grandson, Kristopher Tanner Riles.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers are Steve Pattat, Bill Pattat, Wade Carraway, Jay Featherstone, Charles Ernie Featherstone and Will Pattat. John McKenzie will serve as an honorary casketbearer.
