Peggy (Place) Babin

PEGGY PLACE BABIN, resident of the Hickory Withe Community, retired Secretary and wife of the late Jerry Anthony Babin died Thursday morning, October 21, 2010 at the Methodist North Hospital in Memphis where she had been a patient for a week. She was 70 years of age and died following a brief illness.
Funeral services for Mrs. Babin were conducted at 11 A.M. Monday, October 25 th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Eddie Little of First Baptist Church of Hickory Withe, officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Hickory Withe. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—West Chapel of Oakland.
Mrs. Babin was born on April 27, 1940 in Memphis, Tennessee the daughter of the late Seth Eugene Place and the late Charlotte Taylor Place. She was a graduate of Memphis Southside High School and was married on June 29, 1958 to Jerry Anthony Babin, Master Brick Mason, who preceded her in death on April 2, 2007. Mrs. Babin was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Hickory Withe and had been a resident of the Hickory Withe Community for the past forty years. She will be remembered for a devoted wife and mother with an outgoing personality, uplifting spirit and love for life.
She leaves her children, David L. Babin of Hickory Withe, Stacy Cowell of Cordova, a sister, Norma P. McKinney of Southaven, 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Family and friends served as casketbearers and the family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
