Peggy Ann Cocke Feathers, age 72, resident of Somerville, departed this life Friday afternoon, August 5, 2016 at her residence.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Feathers were conducted at 2 P.M. Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Rickey Burns, pastor of the Williston Baptist Church, officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery at Williston. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Feathers was born May 31, 1944 in Somerville. She received her education in the Fayette County School System in the Braden Community and was a lifelong resident of the Fayette County area. Mrs. Feathers was employed as a seamstress at Somerville Manufacturing Company and was employed at Shirley’s Grocery Store in Somerville for over 30 years before her retirement. She was of the Baptist faith and attended Shady Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, hummingbirds and being outdoors.
Mrs. Feathers is survived by two sisters, Gracie Treadway of Somerville, Martha Burk (Chris) of Stanton; her brother, John W. Cocke (Joan) of Somerville; and her son-in-law, Thomas Kyzar of Williston.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira Cocke and Katie Evelyn Whittiemore Cocke; her daughter, Patricia Diane Kyzar; two sisters, Ruby Hamilton, Shirley Maddox; and five brothers, Winston Whittiemore, Ira A. Cocke, James Cocke, Larry Cocke and Paul Cocke.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Kenny Cocke, Ray Kee, Roger Dale Kee, Jr., James Duncan, Buddy Kee and Thomas Kyzar. Honorary pallbearers were John Wayne Cocke, Adrian Baskerville, Daniel Kee and Jerry Kyzar.
The family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148.
