Peggy Parker Reeves, age 80, resident of Brownsville, longtime resident of Fayette County and wife of the late Arthur William “Bubba” Reeves, departed this life Saturday afternoon, July 9, 2016 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Reeves were conducted at 3 P.M. Monday, July 11, 2016 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. David Reeves, pastor of the Midway Baptist Church in Whiteville, officiating. He was assisted by Bro. Reeves Garrett. Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery at Williston. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Reeves was born January 14, 1936 in Williston. She was a graduate of Fayette County High School Class of 1954. She attended Southwestern College (now Rhodes College) and was a graduate of the Methodist School of Nursing. She was employed as a registered nurse for many years before her retirement. Mrs. Reeves was married September 12, 1958 to Arthur William “Bubba” Reeves. She was a member of the Midway Baptist Church in Whiteville and was a lifelong resident of Fayette County. She enjoyed reading, flowers, gardening, traveling, sewing and bird watching.
Mrs. Reeves is survived by her daughter, Laurel Reeves Garrett and her husband, Art, of Brownsville, TN, her stepson, David Reeves and his wife, Terri, of Somerville; her brother, Billy Parker and his wife, Dartha Lil, of Somerville; and five grandchildren, Samantha Reeves, Reeves Garrett and his wife, Elise, Emily Reeves, Elliot Garrett and Luke Reeves.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur William “Bubba” Reeves, who died July 25, 1984; her parents, Chester V. Parker and Helen McCulley Parker; and her son, Billy Mac Reeves.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Reeves Garrett, Luke Reeves, Raymond Kelley, Jr., Danny Ray Parker, Rickey Parker and Jerry Russell. Honorary pallbearers were Reuben Kennon, Henry Diffee, Thomas Tapp, Jerry Peterson, Ricky Campbell, Terry Davis, Gerald Taylor and Max Burch.
