Phillip "Little Phil" Darwin Cannon, Jr.

January 20, 1972 — November 11, 2013

Phillip Darwin “Little Phil” Cannon, Jr., resident of the District 15 Community in Fayette County and United States Air Force Veteran departed this life Monday morning, November 11, 2013 at the Methodist LeBonheur Hospital in Germantown where he had been a patient for one week. He was 41 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Cannon were conducted at 2 P.M. Thursday, November 14th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. John Ed Watkins of Somerville officiating. Special music was provided by Donna Watkins and Bro. Kevin Treadway. Interment followed in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in the District 15 Community. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Cannon was born January 20, 1972 in Covington, Tennessee, the son of Phillip Darwin “Big Phil” Cannon, Sr. and Margaret Ann Sprayberry Cannon. He received his education in the Fayette County Public School System and was a 1990 graduate of Fayette Ware in Somerville. He served stateside in the United States Air Force after graduating from high school and had been a resident of the District 15 Community for much of his life. He was a Christian and had attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church.

He was married April 27, 1992 to Kirsten McCrillis, who is presently a nursing student associated with Allied Health, who survives. Mr. Cannon had a lifelong love for animals and enjoyed caring for his pet canines. He enjoyed sports of all kinds with a love for football and the University of Tennessee Ladies Volunteers basketball program.

Mr. Cannon is survived by his wife, Kirsten McCrillis Cannon; his parents, Phil and Margaret Cannon of District 15 Community; his sister, Christy Ann Cannon of Oakland; his paternal grandmother, Polly Cannon of Somerville; his paternal great grandmother, Catherine Cannon of Somerville; and two pet dogs, Maggie and Peyton.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Kelby McCrillis, Jimmy Cannon, Charles Conner, Cecil Cannon, Jr., Todd Ellis and Patrick Glover.
Honorary casketbearers were Michael Ellis, B.J. Cannon and Dennis Cannon.
