Porter O'Neal Rhudy

May 31, 1923 — March 29, 2016

Porter O’Neal Rhudy, age 92, resident of Saulsbury and husband of the late Bobbie Lummus Rhudy, finished his race with joy on Tuesday morning, March 29, 2016 at his residence.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Rhudy were conducted at 1 P.M. Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville. The officiating ministers were Bro. Charles Cate of the New Bethel Church of Christ near Paris and Spring Hill, Tennessee and Bro. James Robert Kingsley, pastor of the East Main Church of Christ in Tupelo, Mississippi. Interment with Military Honors followed in the Evergreen Cemetery at Williston. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Rhudy was born May 31, 1923 in Tupelo, Mississippi. He received his education at the American School and was married for 33 years to the former Bobbie Lummus. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps, where he was a Squad Leader in the 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Division B-6 79. He was a very devout Christian with a great knowledge of the Bible and a member of the Grand Junction Church of Christ. He enjoyed gardening and special times with his family.

Mr. Rhudy is survived by his daughter, Barbara Humes of Saulsbury; five grandchildren, Jennifer Collomp (Jeff) of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Jeana Reeves (Steve) of Somerville, Kelly Watson of Lexington, Tennessee, John Rupprecht of Saulsbury, Neal Rhudy of Memphis; and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Lummus Rhudy who died November 30, 2010; his parents, Clifton Rhudy and Ocie Baldwin Rhudy; his son, Greg Rhudy; his grandson, Jacob Rhudy; five sisters and one brother.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Neal Rhudy, John Rupprecht, Steve Reeves, Jeff Collomp, Joey Collomp and Seth Dunivan. Honorary pallbearers will be Blake Todd and Keith Graham.
