Priscilla Pulliam Langdon, longtime resident of the Somerville Community and wife of the late James Belden Langdon died Tuesday evening, January 4, 2011 at the Methodist Hospital in Somerville where she had been a patient for six days. She was 83 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Langdon were conducted at 3 P.M. Thursday, Janaury 6 th at the First United Methodist Church in Somerville with Rev. Larry Kendrick of the Church, officiating. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Langdon was born in Rossville on February 16, 1927. She was preceded in death by her parents, Opal Louise Fite Pulliam and James Perry Pulliam, Sr. She was a graduate of Collierville High School and continued her education at the Methodist School of Nursing. Mrs. Langdon was married on January 23, 1949 James Belden Langdon, a local High School Teacher and Poet, who preceded her in death August 14, 1985.
She retired from Somerville Bank & Trust Company after 40 years as Assistant Vice President and Loan Review Officer and was active in Civic and Community Affairs, including serving as an Alderman for the Town of Somerville.
Survivors of Mrs. Langdon include her son: James Michael Langdon of New Market, TN; her sisters: Mary Louise Murphey (James F.) of Somerville, Virginia Boswell (Frank) of Somerville, Jane Lewis of Seagoville, TX; her brother: James Perry Pulliam, Jr. of Oklahoma City, OK; her granddaughter: Kether Galbreath of Ottawa, Canada; three great-granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Langdon was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Jo McFarland.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were David Boswell, Michael Lewis, Wesley Parks, Jr., Joe Pulliam, Richard McQueen and Jimmy Murphey .
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Somerville First United Methodist Church, 202 S. East Street, Somerville, TN 38068.
