Raphael (Ray) Alfred Adams

Raphael Alfred “Ray” Adams, resident of the Lakeland Community, United States Marine Corps Veteran and husband of Linda Riddle-Adams departed this life Sunday morning, April 7, 2013 at his residence. He was 58 years of age and died unexpectedly.

Services of Remembrance with Military Honors for Mr. Adams were conducted at 6 P.M. Friday, April 12th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Father Jim Martell of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Memphis officiating. Special music was provided by Mary Adams, Ervin Riddle and Jami Parker. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery at Charleston, Arkansas. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Adams was born June 7, 1954 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Crist Adams and Barbara Marie Geisbauer Adams. He received his education at Christ the King Catholic Elementary School and St. Anne’s Academy in Fort Smith, Arkansas and served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was married July 7, 1994 to the former Linda Riddle, who survives.

Mr. and Mrs. Adams lived in the Lakeland Community for the past five years and he was Catholic in faith. Mr. Adams was employed in the industrial electrical maintenance department at Owens Corning in Memphis for eight years before his retirement in June 2012.

In addition to his wife of 18 years, Mr. Adams is survived by two sons, Jason Adams of Indianapolis, IN, Jeremy Adams of Indianapolis, IN; two stepdaughters, Deborah Bingham of Knoxville, Ellen Willis of Knoxville; two stepsons, Jonathan Garrett of Knoxville, Russell Campbell of Knoxville; two sisters, Mary Adams of Fayetteville, AR, Jane Brummel of Kansas City, MO; his brother, Michael Adams of Las Cruses, NM; 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Adams, who died in 2005.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
