Ray Edward Williams, Sr.

March 13, 1956 — January 15, 2016

Ray Edward Williams, Sr., age 59, resident of the Hickory Withe Community and husband of Wanda Williams, departed this life Friday afternoon, January 15, 2016 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Collierville.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Williams were conducted at 11 A.M. Friday, January 22, 2016 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. The speakers were Jamie Hannah and Jason McKay. Interment with Military Honors followed in the Walls Cemetery in the Braden Community. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Williams was born March 13, 1956 in Memphis. He was a graduate of Fayette Ware High School Class of 1974 and was married June 7, 1980 to the former Wanda Willwerth. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War era. He was a resident of the Hickory Withe Community for 25 years and was employed as an HVAC technician for Frank James Air Conditioning. Mr. Williams enjoyed fishing, watching races, football, cooking fish and listening to Blues music.

Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of 35 years, Wanda Williams of Hickory Withe; his daughter, Emily Williams of Hickory Withe; his son, Ray Williams, Jr. of Richmond, VA; his sister, Debra Stegall of Somerville; and his brother, Arthur Williams of Somerville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel H. Williams, Sr. and Loretta Rose Ray Williams.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Dave Perkins, Kelley Willwerth, Jerry Musto, Frank James, Arthur Williams, Joey Willwerth and Tyler Hood.
