Raymond Elwyn Dougan passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2017.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Dougan were conducted at 2 P.M. Thursday, August 3, 2017 at the Moscow United Methodist Church with Pastor James Graham officiating. Interment with Military Honors followed in the Bethlehem Cemetery at Moscow. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Dougan was born October 29, 1928 in Moscow, Tennessee to Allen & Katherine Dougan and was a lifelong resident of the Hays Community. He graduated from Fayette County High School in 1946 and worked as a carpenter and electrician, before being drafted into the Army in 1950.
Mr. Dougan served in the Korean War with Company F 5th Calvary Regiment, receiving the Korean Service Medal with Bronze Campaign Star, the United Nations Service Medal, and the Army Occupation Medal (Japan), and achieving the rank of Sergeant.
After his honorable discharge from the Army in 1953, Mr. Dougan attended the William R. Moore College of Technology in Memphis, TN. After receiving his Technology Certification, Mr. Dougan worked as a mechanic and tool & die maker, retiring from Troxel Manufacturing in 1999 and thereafter working at Hurdle Machine Works for several years, He was a member of Moscow United Methodist Church and managed the business affairs and maintenance of the Bethlehem Church & Cemetery for over 30 years. Raymond was a good steward to his country and community.
Mr. Dougan is preceded in death by his sisters, Janie Gresham of Byhalia, MS and Carol Williams of Collierville, TN. He is survived by his sister, Dorothy Wilbourn of Jacksonville, FL, brother, Jack Dougan of Mountlake Terrace, WA, nieces, Pam Milligan, Cathy Hagan & Donnie White and nephews, Charles Gresham, Ray Leitschuh, Kelly Dougan, Tim Wilbourn & Chuck Wilbourn.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Kelly Dougan, Ray Leitschuh, Larry Leitschuh, Jack Milligan, Chuck Wilbourn and Tim Wilbourn.
