Rebecca Christine "Becky" Miller Bobbitt Alexander, resident of Bolivar, TN, former resident of the Macon and Somerville Communities, and retired salesperson for Cooksey’s Department Store, died Saturday morning, September 3, 2011 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN. She was 86 years of age and died following a brief illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Alexander were held at 2 P.M. Monday, September 5, 2019 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel in Oakland with Rev. Larry Tubb of Macon United Methodist Church officiating. Interment followed in Macon Cemetery in Macon, Tennessee. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.
A native of Macon, Mrs. Alexander was born February 26, 1925 to the late Hal B. Miller and the late Mary Etta Broach Miller. Mrs. Alexander was educated in the Fayette County Public School System. She married the late Robert Junius Bobbitt on November 17, 1967. Mr. Bobbitt preceded her in death in 1992.
Mrs. Alexander was a salesperson for Cooksey’s Department Store for a number of years before her retirement 25 years ago. Known for her neat appearance, Mrs. Alexander will be remembered for the love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an avid reader and enjoyed baking. Mrs. Alexander was faithful and supportive of her church.
Mrs. Alexander is survived by three sons, Tim Bobbitt (Julia) of Bolivar, Rudy Bobbitt (Debbie) of Oakland, Kenneth Bobbitt of Moscow, his stepdaughter, Pat Sirhan of Concord, NC, her stepsons, Don Alexander (Marilyn) of Tupelo, MS, Gary Alexander (Rose) of Meridian, MS, and a large number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to her first husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her second husband, Marvin Alexander, who died in 2000, and her two sisters, Lexie Bobbitt and Nettie McDowell and her brother, Doyle Miller.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were David Berretta, Cody Heismann, Jeff Heismann, Mark Conner, Lane McDowell and Brandon McDowell.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Macon United Methodist Church, 8740 Highway 193, Oakland, TN 38060.
