Retha Mae Skipper Willis, age 89, resident of Rossville and wife of the late John Clyde Willis, departed this life Friday morning, July 29, 2016 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Collierville.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Willis were conducted at 12 Noon Monday, August 1, 2016 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. James Graham officiating. Interment followed in the Friendship Cemetery at Moscow. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.
Mrs. Willis was born January 15, 1927 in Gaffney, South Carolina. She was married December 2, 1949 to John Clyde Willis and they were owners of the Willis Stop & Shop in Moscow. They were residents of Fayette County since 1961 and of the Methodist faith. Mrs. Willis enjoyed singing, shopping, preparing food and visiting with her friends.
Mrs. Willis is survived by her daughter, Kathy Duncan of Owensville, Missouri; two sons, Mike Willis and his wife, Sherrin, of Moscow, Mark Willis and his wife, Rae, of Rossville; three sisters, Lois Emmett of Gastonia, NC, Faye Sutt of Loganville, GA, Francis Lineberger of Dallas, NC; three grandchildren, Janice Bruyere, Michael Smith, Jennifer Rowe; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Clyde Willis; her parents, James Walter Skipper and Alice Faye Brewer Skipper; her brother, James Walter "Jake" Skipper, Jr.; and her grandson, Micah Willis.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Billy McClure, Mark Rowe, James Teague, Donnie Leggett, Bob Moore and Stan McArthur.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Page Robbins Adult Day Center, 1961 S. Houston Levee Road, Collierville, TN 38017.
