RICHARD HOLLAND "RICKI" ANDREWS, a resident of the Bethlehem/Hebron Community and a person who was active in numerous volunteer and community projects before his illness, died at 7:45 P.M. Tuesday, May 20, 2008 at Ashton Place Retirement Center in Memphis where he had resided for six weeks. He was 55 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Funeral services for Mr. Andrews were conduced at 3 P.M. Thursday, May 22nd at the Hebron Chapel Church. Special remarks and eulogy were given by family and friends. Interment followed in the Hebron Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home-Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Andrews was born January 4, 1953 in Dallas, TX, the son of the late Herbert Andrews and the late Nan Holland Andrews. He moved at an early age with his family to West Tennessee, where he was educated in the Obion County Public School system and furthered his education with additional courses in West Tennessee Colleges. He was a resident of Memphis in earlier years and had resided with his sister and brother-in-law in the Hebron/Bethlehem Community for the past eighteen years. He was an active member of the Memphis Moose Lodge #153 and was of the Baptist Faith, serving as Pastor of the Hornbeak Baptist Church in Obion, County in earlier years. Known for his love of sports, news and politics, Mr. Andrews took a special interest in baseball and bowling. He coached Dixie Youth Baseball for many years and served as secretary of the Bartlett Brothers and Sisters Bowling League for several years.
Survivors of Mr. Andrews include two sisters: Virginia McKenzie (Earl) of Stanton and Ann Nita Andrews of Brownsville and a host of nieces and nephews.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were John McKenzie, David McKenzie, Bobby Rolland, Don Morgan, Le Garrison and Debra Edmunds.
