Richard Charles Brewer

Richard Charles Brewer, resident of the Lakeland Community and retired long-distance truck operator, departed this life Wednesday morning, April 9, 2014 at his residence. He was 54 years of age and died following a brief illness.

Private funeral arrangements for Mr. Brewer are incomplete. A Private Interment will be in the Adamsville Cemetery at Adamsville, Tennessee. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Brewer was born August 2, 1959 in Savannah, Tennessee, the son of Jeanne Gilchrist Brewer Carnes and the late Billy Charles Brewer. He received his education in the Memphis City Public School System and was a graduate of Treadwell High School. He was a long-distance truck operator for much of his life and was an accomplished diesel mechanic.  Mr. Brewer was of the Presbyterian faith and was a former resident of Byhalia, Mississippi before moving to the Lakeland Community.

Mr. Brewer is survived by his mother, Jeanne Brewer Carnes and stepfather, Edward W. Carnes of Lakeland; brother, Robert Brewer (Tara) of Byhalia, MS, grandmother, Mattie Ruth Brewer of Adamsville, TN; nephews, Billy Brewer (Susan) of Huntsville, AL, Alec Brewer of Byhalia, MS; great nephew, Hayden Brewer of Byhalia, MS and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Angela Lubiani Brewer; maternal grandparents, James and Lenora Gilchrist; and paternal grandfather, William Charles Brewer.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Collierville Animal Services, 559 E. South Street, Collierville, TN 38017 or the charity of the donor’s choice.
