Butch Watson
1944—2011
Richard Thomas “Butch” Watson, resident of the Mason Community, retired Heating and Air Conditioning repairman and husband of Mildred Watson died Wednesday afternoon, May 11, 2011 at his residence. He was 67 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Watson were conducted at 2 P.M. Monday, May 16th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Carl Doyle of Oakland, officiating. Interment was private and arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—West Chapel of Oakland.
Mr. Watson was born April 4, 1944 in Cordova, TN. He was the son of the late Edmond Bell Watson and the late Mattie Louise Wright Watson. Mr. Watson was educated in the Memphis Public School System and was a longtime resident of Fayette County. He was married July 20, 1985 to the former Mildred Ann Bailey, who survives. Mr. Watson was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed fishing, camping and special times with family members and friends.
In addition to his wife of 25 years, Mr. Watson is survived by his four daughters: Michelle Galyon of Munford, Joy Watson of Wilmington, North Carolina, Angela Matheny of Memphis, Dana Gatewood of West Memphis, Arkansas; three sons: Danny Watson of Wilmington, NC, Richard Lee Watson of Bartlett, Thomas Dewayne Moss of Mason; four sisters: Brenda Shubert of Williston, Carol Whittemore of Gallaway, Renata Watson of Arlington, Betty Stines of Memphis; two brothers: Terry Watson of Southaven, MS and Jerry Watson of Gallaway; twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Fayette County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, 16845 Highway 64, Somerville, TN 38068.
