Richard Allan "Rick" Smith, Sr.

Richard Allan “Rick” Smith, Sr., age 64, resident of Henderson, Tennessee, departed this life Sunday morning, July 23, 2017 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Smith were conducted at 1 P.M. Saturday, August 5, 2017 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Brian Smith officiating. Interment with Military Honors followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Smith was born April 27, 1953 in Riverside, California. He moved with his family at an early age to the Memphis area and received his education in the Memphis City School System. He served his country in the United States Air Force and was employed as an iron worker and pipefitter for many years. Mr. Smith was of the Catholic faith and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was known to many with his association at the Riverside Speedway through his involvement with various types of racing. He enjoyed fishing, Harley Davidson motorcycles and playing the drums, where he served as a drummer in various bands.

Mr. Smith is survived by two sons, Christopher Shaun Smith, Sr. of Concord, CA, Richard Allan Smith, Jr. (Michelle) of Brentwood, CA; his sister, Cheryl Smith; his brother, Ronny Smith (Dianne) of Middleton, TN; his niece, Lisa Garrison of Oakland, TN; his nephew, Alan Garrison of Sweetwater, TN; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and his girlfriend and caregiver, Rita Treadway.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace Smith and Joe Anne McCarver Smith and his daughter, Kori R. Smith.
