Rickey Eugene Keith, resident of Collierville, retired supervisor for Cardwell Containers in Cordova and husband of Betty Jean Cox Keith departed this life Tuesday morning, October 1, 2013 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis where he had been a patient for six days. He was 56 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Memorial Services for Mr. Keith will be at 10 Saturday morning, October 12, 2013 at the Central Church in Collierville and arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Keith was born May 8, 1957 in Newton, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Eugene Keith and Janice Lee Reynolds Keith. He received his education in the Newton, Iowa Public School System and was married October 25, 1980 to the former Betty Jean Cox, an employee for Creative Co-Op and Dollar Tree in Collierville, who survives. He served his country in the United States Navy during peacetime in earlier years.
Mr. Keith was employed as a supervisor for Cardwell Containers in Cordova for 12 years before his retirement two years ago. He was a resident of Collierville for 33 years and was a member of the Central Church in Collierville. He enjoyed playing cards, playing pool and watching wrestling and football.
In addition to his wife of 32 years, Mr. Keith is survived by two sons, Matt Keith of Memphis, Rickey Eugene Keith II (Dana) of Soldotna, Alaska and his sister, Janice English (Randy) of Piperton. He was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Orman.
