RICKY MCCOY HUNSUCKER

August 8, 1959 — December 15, 2008

RICKY MCCOY HUNSUCKER, a resident of the Hickory Withe Community and longtime Residential Painter in the Fayette County area died at 9:34 A.M. Monday, December 15, 2008 at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis where he had been a patient since September 24th. He was 49 years of age and died from injuries received in a fire that occurred in the yard of his home three months ago.

Funeral services for Mr. Hunsucker were conducted at 2 P.M. Thursday, December 18th at the Morris Chapel Baptist Church near Somerville with Rev. John Ed Watkins, Pastor of the Church, officiating with a selection of poems written by Mr. Hunsucker read by Donna Watkins. Interment followed in the Morris Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-West Chapel of Oakland.

Mr. Hunsucker was born in Hardeman County, Tennessee on August 8, 1959, the son of Virginia Byrd Hunsucker and the late Julian McCoy Hunsucker. He received his education in the Fayette County Public School System and was a lifelong resident of the Somerville and Hickory Withe areas.

Mr. Hunsucker served as an independent Residential House Painter and was also employed by the Gammel Painting Company of Collierville, for much of his life. He was a member of the Morris Chapel Baptist Church and enjoyed fishing and squirrel hunting.

He will be remembered for his strong work ethic and for the enjoyment he received from the reading and writing of poetry.

Survivors of Mr. Hunsucker include his companion and the mother of his children, Sandra Perygin; two daughters, Sara Hunsucker of Somerville and Riki Hunsucker of Arlington; his mother, Virginia Hunsucker German and step-father James German of Somerville; two sisters, Carolyn Sandusky of Arlington and Brenda Nelson of Oakland; three brothers: Dennis Hunsucker of Somerville, Jeff Hunsucker of Arlington and Mark Hunsucker of Somerville and four grandchildren: Josh, Jakob and twins Trey and J. W.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Michael Byrd, Dwight Byrd, Ronnie Hunsucker, Roy Sandusky, Tony Gammel and Gary Joyner

The family request that Memorials be directed to the Memphis Firefighters Burn Unit, 877 Jefferson Avenue, Memphis, TN 38103.
