Rita Louise Allin, a resident of the Somerville Community and a Professional Massage Therapist in Fayette County for a number of years, died at 8:10 A.M. Monday, October 13, 2008 at the Methodist Hospital Fayette in Somerville, where she had been a patient for several weeks. She was 64 years of age and died following an extended illness.
A Service Of Remembrance for Ms. Allin was conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 19th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with the Rev. David Cooper of Bolivar, officiating. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.
Ms. Allin was born November 14 1943 in Florence, South Carolina the daughter of Martin I. Allin and the late Juanita M. Mays Allin. She was educated in the South Carolina Public School System and was a graduate of the Gold Berry, South Carolina High School.
She served in the United States Marine Corps as a young person and was a former resident of South Carolina, Florida and New York before moving to West Tennessee.
She received special education as a Massage Therapist and served as a Professional Masseur for much of her life.
Ms. Allin will be remembered as a people person who enjoyed participating in community affairs. She dedicated her life in assisting others, and in earlier years served in Africa caring for those in need of medical attention.
Survivors of Ms. Allin include two daughters, Dorena and Gwen Allin of Long Island, New York and her father Martin I. Allin, a retired Veteran of the United States Air Force, of Bolivar, TN.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Lexa Jean Allin.
The family requests that Memorials be directed to the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
