Robert Wayne Jolly

Robert Wayne Jolly, age 84, resident of Oakland, Tennessee and husband of Rita Hedquist Jolly, departed this life Friday morning, March 1, 2024 at the National HealthCare Center in Somerville, Tennessee.

Robert was born June 7, 1939 in Quito, Tennessee, the son of the late Robert Bradley Jolly and Flora Ardell Smith Jolly. He served his country in the United States Army. He was a committed Christian who loved the Lord and was a Gideon. R.W. lost his first wife, Barbara, at the same time that Rita, his second wife, lost her first husband, Tim. God gave both of them the gift to love again. Robert was a custom home builder for many years and loved woodworking, golfing and was an enthusiast of cars, trains and airplanes.

Mr. Jolly is survived by his wife of 20 years, Rita Hedquist Jolly; two daughters, Jamye Hedquist McCune (Steve) and Mindy Hedquist Peck (Rick); two sons, Kevin Jolly (Paula) and Brad Jolly (Jonana); his brother, Michael Van Jolly; nine grandchildren, Bailye Lyons (Trey), Whitten McCune, Darbye McCune, Timothy Peck (Jenna), Hannah Peck, Abbi Peck, Stephen Jolly and Matthew Jolly and Gracie Jolly; and a great-grand-baby Peck due in June 2024.

Funeral Services for Mr. Jolly were held at 2 P.M. Monday, March 4, 2024 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Stan Smith, pastor of Somerville First Baptist Church, officiating. A private family interment followed.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Brad Jolly, Kevin Jolly, Matthew Jolly, Stephen Jolly, Steve McCune, Whitten McCune, Rick Peck, Timothy Peck and Michael Van Jolly.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Somerville First Baptist Church, 12685 S. Main Street, Somerville, TN 38068.
