Robert Craig “Bob” Moilanen, resident of the Oakland Community, Painting Contractor and husband of Sandra Moilanen died Monday March 21, 2011 at the Methodist Hospital in Somerville. He was 53 years of age and died following a brief illness.
Graveside Services with Military Honors for Mr. Moilanen will be conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday, March 30

. Interment will follow in the West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery on Forest Hill Irene Road in Germantown. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—West Chapel of Oakland.
A native of Beaumont, Texas, Mr. Moilanen was born January 12, 1958. He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret Guillory Moilanen and Henry Moilanen. He received his education in the Texas Public School System and was a veteran of the United States Navy. Mr. Moilanen was married October 7, 1990 to the former Sandra Alquist of Memphis, who survives.
Mr. Moilanen had been a self employed painting contractor for over 30 years and was a former resident of Shelby County before moving to Fayette County eleven years ago. He was of the Christian faith and enjoyed outdoor grilling, cooking and fishing. Mr. Moilanen will be remembered as an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys.
In addition to his wife of 20 years, Mr. Moilanen is survived by his daughter, Jessica Moultrie of Bartlett, his son, Robert Craig Moilanen, Jr. of Oakland, his step-mother, Linda Moilanen of Texarkana, Arkansas, his sister, Debbie James of Virginia Beach, VA, four brothers, Bullett Moilanen of New Boston, TX, Jay Moilanen of Ocean Springs, MS, Tony Auck of Baton Rouge, LA and Dean Auck of Texarkana, Arkansas.
