ROBERT HENRY "PETE" OWENS, III

March 1, 1995 — November 18, 2008

ROBERT HENRY "PETE" OWENS, III, a resident of Covington, Tennessee and student at Crestview Middle School at Covington died at 6:45 P.M. Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at his residence. He was 13 years of age and died unexpectedly.

Funeral services for Pete were conducted at 1 P.M. Saturday, November 22nd at the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Moscow, TN with Rev. Johnny Creasey, Rev. David Parlow and Rev. Tony Watkins, officiating. Interment followed in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.

Pete was born March 1, 1995, in Monroe, LA; the son of Robert Henry, Owens, Jr. of Fayette County and Patricia Pilkington Owens of Tipton County. He had been a resident of Covington for the past eighteen months and was an eighth grade student at the Crestview Middle School at Covington. He attended the Covington First Baptist Church where he was active in the church youth group and was a member of the Honor Society at his school.

Pete's interests included go-kart riding, NASCAR activities and sports including football and baseball. He also enjoyed working with his father in construction projects.

In addition to his parents, Pete is survived by his sister, Patricia LeAnne Owens and his maternal grandmother, Geneva Pilkington, both of Covington and a large number of aunts, uncles and numerous cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Bobby Pilkington; paternal grandfather, Robert Henry "Pete" Owens, Sr.; his paternal grandmother, Lenora Watkins Owens; his uncle, Frank Owens; and his great-grandparents: John and Hattie Mae Pilkington, Charlie and Katherine Stewart, John Henry and Ollie Owens and Roy and Lillie Watkins.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Bubba Miller, James McClure, Larry Watkins, Ben Russell, Jason Russell and Justin Russell.

Honorary casketbearers were John Seaton Pilkington, Wayne Rixie, Roy Colbern and Brian Miles.
