ROBERT KIRKWOOD "BOBBY" TROTTER, resident of Whitehaven, TN, former resident of the HickoryWithe/Oakland areas and United States Veteran, died at 4:45 P.M. Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at the Methodist Hospital in Germantown where he had been a patient for four weeks. He was 70 years of age and died following an illness of two months.
Funeral services for Mr. Trotter were conducted at 3 P.M. Friday, September 28th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel near Oakland with Rev. John Ed Watkins, Pastor of the Morris Chapel Baptist Church in Somerville, officiating. Interment, with military recognition, followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home-West Chapel.
Mr. Trotter was born October 28, 1936, in Memphis, TN the son of Mary Wright Trotter and the late Thomas Howard Trotter. He moved with his parents to Fayette County at an early age and was educated in the public school system of Fayette County and a graduate of the Fayette County High School in Somerville. He served in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1958.
Mr. Trotter was married August 15, 1959, to the former Lorene Gammel of Fayette County, who survives. He was a member of the Local 474 Electrical Union in Memphis and was employed as an electrician for thirty-seven years before his retirement five years ago. He was of the Protestant faith and will be remembered for his love for hunting, fishing, flower gardening, wildlife and nature.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Appling (Carl, Sr.) of Marion, AR and Michelle Rines (Charles) of Horn Lake, MS; his son, Stephen Trotter (Dianne) of Saulsbury, TN; his mother, Mary Wright Trotter of Hickory Withe; his sister, Linelle Huddin of Chiloquin, OR; two brothers, Tommy Trotter of Batesville, MS and T.H. Trotter of Marion, Texas; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Trotter, on July 1, 2005.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Rick Appling, Sr., Rick Appling, Jr., Brandon Appling, Timmy Trotter, Dustin Trotter and Stephen Trotter.
