Robert Gragg Wilson, Sr., 89, resident of Arlington, well-known farmer, landowner and United States Army Veteran, died December 21, 2007. Services will be conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, December 28, 2007, at the Arlington Presbyterian Church with a visitation from 12 Noon to 2 P.M. at the church. Interment, with military recognition, will be in the Arlington Cemetery at Arlington. Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home - Main Chapel of Somerville will be in charge of arrangements. We celebrate the life and death of Robert Gragg Wilson, Sr., born September 7, 1918, and died December 21, 2007. Robert lived his entire life in Arlington, Tennessee. After serving his country as a Master Sergeant in the United States Army he returned home from WW II to live on and manage the family farming operation of S.Y. Wilson and Co. In 1973 he began a thirty-five year partnership, Wilson and Wilson Farms, with his son John Charles Wilson. In 1975 Robert Wilson was named Man of the Year in service to Tennessee Agriculture. He was a founding director of the United Soybean Board. He was the National Treasurer of the American Soybean Association, President of the Tennessee Soybean Association, President of the Tennessee Livestock Association, and President of the Brownsville Feeder Calf Association. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Agricenter International. He was named Cattleman of the Year in 1968 and was the recipient of the Leonard J. Kerr Award for Meritorious Service to Agriculture. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of fifty-three years and our dear mother, Miriam Montgomery Wilson. He was a life time member and Elder at Arlington Presbyterian Church, and he served his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ faithfully throughout his entire life. The legacy of his faith is that we will be reunited one day with him. God bless you, Daddy.
