Robert Marvin “Bob” Covington, resident of Germantown, former resident of the Rossville Community and husband of Garnet Covington, departed this life Tuesday morning, March 4, 2014 at the Baptist Trinity Hospice House in Collierville where he had been a patient for five days. He was 74 years of age and died following an extended illness.
At the request of Mr. Covington’s family, Services and Interment were private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Covington was born March 20, 1939 in Memphis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Melvin Covington and Eva Rhea Williams Covington. He received his education in the Shelby County Public School System and was a graduate of Treadwell High School in Memphis.
Mr. Covington was employed as a food technician for the Cargill Corporation in Memphis for a number of years before his retirement. He was of the Baptist faith and as a young person served in the United States Army. He was a resident of the Rossville Community for over 20 years before recently moving to Germantown. As long as health permitted, Mr. Covington enjoyed woodworking and wildlife that including feeding the birds and animals.
Mr. Covington is survived by his wife, Garnet Covington.
