Robert Joseph “Bobby” Stone, age 64, resident of Oakland and husband of Deborah Moore Stone, departed this life Friday evening, September 11, 2015 at his residence.
A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Stone was conducted at 12 Noon Thursday, September 17, 2015 at the Pollard Chapel of Bellevue Baptist Church in Cordova. A Private Interment was in the Barton Baptist Church Cemetery in Barton, Mississippi. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Stone was born October 18, 1950 in Memphis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Stone and Bronnie Beckett Stone. He was a graduate of Overton High School in Memphis and was married to the former Deborah Moore, who survives. Mr. Stone served as a Memphis City Police Officer for 33 years before his retirement. He was a lifelong resident of the West Tennessee area and a member of Bellevue Baptist Church in Cordova. He enjoyed outdoor activities that included camping and fishing.
In addition to his wife of 38 years, Mr. Stone is survived by his daughter, Magen Stone of Houston, Texas; his son, Eli Stone (Shawna) of Byhalia, Mississippi; his sister, Carolyn Smith (Tommy) of Somerville; his brother, David Stone of Memphis; and three grandchildren, Kaitlyn Stone, Rylee Stone and Seth Stone, all of Byhalia, Mississippi.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Stone.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to the Centurions for Christ, P.O. Box 3007, West Memphis, Arkansas 72303.
