ROGER DALE PARRISH
August 28, 1944 — June 9, 2008
ROGER DALE PARRISH, a resident of the Hickory Withe Community and retired employee of the Dement Company, died at 12:15 P.M. Monday, June 9, 2008 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. He was 63 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Funeral services for Mr. Parrish were conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday, June 11th at the Arlington Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Chuck Barritt, Pastor of the Church, officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64 near Oakland.
Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home-West Chapel of Oakland.
Mr. Parrish was born August 28, 1944, in Florence, Alabama the son of the late Claudie George Parrish and Mary Josephine Hart Parrish. He was educated in the Alabama Public School System and was married November 21, 1964 to the former Linda Gail Gautney, a native of Florence, Alabama, who survives.
Mr. and Mrs. Parrish were former residents of Memphis and had been residents of Fayette County for the past 15 years. He was a devoted member of the Arlington Assembly of God Church and participated in various church activities as long as health permitted. Mr. Parrish was employed as a Crane Operator for the Dement Company for 25 years before retiring in 2000 for health reasons.
He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed activities and special times with his family. He enjoyed fishing as long as health permitted and had been a collector of firearms in earlier years.
In addition to his wife of 43 years, Mr. Parrish is survived by his daughter, Tina Conti (Rusty) of the Rosemark Community; his son, Tony Parrish (Angel) of Eads; two sisters, Christine Wisdom of Waterloo, AL and Elizabeth James of Sheffield, AL and five grandchildren: Anthony Parrish, Kayla Parrish, Katie Parrish, Hunter Parrish and Dustin Parrish.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Rusty Conti, Tim Woods, Tim Abbott, Anthony Parrish, Hunter Parrish and Tony Parrish.
