Roger Vinson Teague, resident of the Toone Community in Hardeman County with extended family members in Fayette County, retired Lead Senior Aerospace Engineer, husband of the late Jane Teague and United States Army Veteran died early Saturday morning at the Pine Meadows Nursing Home in Bolivar. He was 90 years of age and died following an extended illness.
At the request of Mr. Teague, services will be private and interment will be in the Rainey Cemetery at Toone. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Teague was born November 9, 1921 in the Medon Community. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Teague and Germaine Demaś Teague. He received his high school education at Bolivar Central High School and graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. He continued his Graduate Studies work at University of California Los Angeles.
Mr. Teague served in the Signal Corps of the United States Army and will be remembered as the first person to score the first touchdown on the first Bolivar Central High School Football team.
Mr. Teague married Jane Teague in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1975 and they moved to El Segundo, California near the TRW Space Division, where Mr. Teague was employed. In 1978, Mr. and Mrs. Teague moved to Australia, where they resided for 10 years. In 1988, Mr. and Mrs. Teague returned to Las Vegas and Mr. Teague was employed at the TRW Space Division of the Gamma Ray Observatory, one of NASA's outstanding operations. Mr. Teague continued to work on the Gamma Ray Observatory until its launching in 1991.
In 1994, Mr. and Mrs. Teague moved to Texas to be with Mrs. Teague's son, Christopher. Mr. Teague began working at Ft. Worth State Medical Offices as a High Level Computer Network Installer and Trainer. He wrote computer programs that enabled various offices to publish required monthly and yearly reports in a timely manner.
Mr. and Mrs. Teague returned to Las Vegas in 1998. In 1999, Mr. and Mrs. Teague vacationed in England and went on a cruise on the latest Queen Mary Vessel. As avid travelers, they also visited Ireland, Scotland, Denmark, Norway and the France World War Cemeteries.
Mr. Teague is survived by his cousin and longtime friend, Albert L. Keller of Toone, TN.
Mr. Teague was preceded in death by his wife on November 29, 2007; and his brother, Semon Teague on July 4, 1997.
