Ron Mooneyhan
1946—2011
Bondy Ronald “Ron” Mooneyhan, resident of the Moscow Community, retired Director of Moscow Public Works and husband of Janice Mooneyhan died Tuesday morning, July 12, 2011 at the Memphis Hospital in Germantown where he had been a patient for 6 days. He was 64 years of age and died following a nine month illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Mooneyhan were conducted at 10 A.M. Friday, July 15 th at Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Christine Purchase, officiating. Graveside Services were at 2 P.M. Friday at the Longtown Cemetery near Como, MS. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—Main Chapel of Somerville.
A native of New Albany, MS, Mr. Mooneyhan was born September 20, 1946. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold L. Mooneyhan and Ellen Elizabeth “Betty” Fly Mooneyhan. He was educated in the California Public School System and lived in various places in the United States before becoming a resident of the Moscow Community 14 years ago. Mr. Mooneyhan was employed by the Baddour/Freds Corporation in earlier years and served as Director of the Moscow Public Works Department for fourteen years before his retirement on year ago.
He was married July 19, 1975 to the former Janice Gilman of Orlando, FL who is currently employed as a Nurse at the Methodist Hospital in Somerville. Mr. Mooneyhan was of the Christian Faith and enjoyed outdoor activites that included fishing and hunting. He had a special love for his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of 36 years, Mr. Mooneyhan is survived by his daughter: Gina Nails of Moscow; two sons: David Mooneyhan of Bartlett and Jason Gilman of Winter Park, FL; twelve grandchildren and four great-grandchildren..
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Jeff Holloway, John Holloway, Bill Nails, Phillip Reeder, Henry Till and Chris Wilson.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
