RONALD MARK COLLINS, retired Colonel with the Memphis Police Department with extended family members in Fayette County, died suddenly March 24, 2009 at his Arlington residence. He was 53 years of age.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Collins was held at the Bartlett United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 28th at 2 p.m. with Rev. Mike Morris, Pastor of the church, officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Steve Shapard, former Pastor. Interment was private and arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-West Chapel of Oakland.
A native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and University of Memphis Graduate, Colonel Collins devoted his life to community service through law enforcement and touched countless lives in the process.
He was a lifelong member of Ellendale United Methodist Church where he used his musical talents in the choir and his gift of leadership on many projects and committees.
Mark was foremost a beloved family man who is survived by his wife of 31 years, Deana Brunjes Collins; his daughter and son-in-law, Emmy and Bill McClain, and two grandchildren, Parker and Lila. He also leaves his parents, Ron and Gail Bright Collins and a sister, Cindy Collins, along with a large extended family and countless friends.
Mark will long be remembered by so many in this community for his acts of kindness and words of encouragement.
