Ronald Gene Parker, resident of Cordova and native of the Somerville Community, departed this life Wednesday afternoon, September 3, 2014 at his residence. He was 63 years of age.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Parker were conducted at 2 P.M. Saturday, September 6th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. David Reeves, pastor of the Midway Baptist Church in Whiteville, officiating. Interment followed in the Old Union Cemetery at Laconia. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Parker was born December 10, 1950 in Somerville. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Addison Parker, Sr. and Margarete Catherine Walls Parker. He received his education in the Fayette County Public School System and was a graduate of the Fayette County High School Class of 1969.
Mr. Parker was a resident of Fayette County for much of his life and moved to Cordova eight years ago. He was employed as a quality assurance inspector for the Carrier Corporation in Collierville for 40 years and planned on retiring later this year. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed outdoor activities that included fishing, hunting and camping. Watching football, Star Wars and NASCAR were favorite pastimes.
Mr. Parker is survived by his daughter, Kristin Parker of Millington; three sisters, Betty Jo Voyles of Somerville, Barbara Nell Stafford (William) of Tupelo, MS, Sandra Kay Davis (Jerry) of Oakland; four brothers, Harvey Wayne Parker (Shirley) of Somerville, Terry Parker of Somerville, Danny Ray Parker (Ginger) of Somerville, Ricky Lynn Parker of Arlington; and his granddaughter, Isabella Reinhart.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, James Addison Parker, Jr., Larry Gene Parker, Jerry Parker and Roger Dale Parker.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Brent Parker, Wade Glover, Brian Richard, Loyd Bremley, David Parker and Troy Parker.
