RONALD EDWIN "OPPY" CLINE, a resident of the Eads Community, retired Freight Company Employee and United States Veteran died Monday morning, January 4, 2010 at his residence. He was 84 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Funeral services for Mr. Cline were conducted at 10 A.M. Wednesday, January 6th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with remarks given by Mr. Bill Moss of Christ The Rock Church in Collierville. Interment followed in the Eads Cemetery in Eads, Tennessee. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-West Chapel of Oakland.

Mr. Cline was born in Westmoreland, Tennessee on July 3, 1925 the son of the late Spencer Edwin Cline and the late Lola Mae Keen Cline.

He was educated in the Sumner County Tennessee Public School System and served in the United States Army during the World War II Period participating in the "Battle of the Bulge".

Mr. Cline was a member of the Eads United Methodist Church and was a former resident of Donelson, Tennessee and Verona, Mississippi before moving to the Eads Community thirty-four years ago.

He was employed in the Freight and transportation industry for over forty years before his retirement twenty years ago.

He will be remembered as an avid gardener who enjoyed many hours working in his yard. He enjoyed special times that included traveling to mountains and being with family members and friends.

Survivors of Mr. Cline include his daughter, Caren Cline Johnson of Eads; his son, Troy Cline of Jefferson, GA; his sister, Octavene Conquest of Gallatin, TN; his brother, Hoyt Cline of Gallatin, TN; five grandchildren: Cody Johnson, Kyle Johnson, Kelsey Johnson, Shauna Cline and Kristen Cline and one great-grandson, Brayden Gorden.

Those honored to serve as casket bearers were Thomas Graves, Brandon Johnson, Cody Johnson, David Johnson, Kyle Johnson and Robert Johnson.

Vernon Moss, Tony Ray and Howard "Tido" Stewart were honorary casket bearers.
