Ronald Ray “Ronnie” Lemmons, resident of the Hickory Valley Community in Hardeman County, United States Army Veteran and a person well-known in Hardeman County, Fayette County and the West Tennessee area as an accomplished horse trainer, departed this life Saturday morning, January 18, 2014 at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis where he had been a patient for five days. He was 67 years of age and died from injuries received in a tree cutting accident.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Lemmons were conducted at 11 A.M. Tuesday, January 21st at the Fisherville First Baptist Church with Bro. Jack Moore, pastor of the church, officiating. Personal remarks were given by Libby McKnight, a family friend. Interment followed in the Bethany Christian Church Cemetery in Eads. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Lemmons was born October 22, 1946 in Memphis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Lee Lemmons and Lottie Marie Wray Lemmons. He received his education in the Shelby County Public School System and served his country as a Drill Sergeant in the United States Army during the Vietnam Period. He was a firefighter for the City of Memphis for over 25 years before his retirement and had been a horse trainer for much of his life.
Mr. Lemmons was a lifelong member of the Baptist Church and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Somerville at the time of his death. He was a former resident of Ramer, Tennessee and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He had a passion for training horses and received much pleasure in time with his grandchildren and family members.
Mr. Lemmons is survived by three daughters, Robyn Hite (Collin) of Southaven, MS, Tiffany Lemmons of Memphis, Ashley Burdette of Collierville; his son, Joey Hodge of Honduras; two sisters, Joyce Brill (Morris) of Roan Mountain, TN, Judy Bridges (Charlie) of Mt. Juliet, TN; his brother, Danny Lee Lemmons (Lynne) of Williston; and four grandchildren, Taylor Hite, Drake Hite, Alan Burdette and Nickolas Burdette.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Scott Lemmons, Lee Brill, Johnie Mynatt, Ed Bragg, Billy Lemmons, Carl Lemmons, Danny Lemmons, Gary Bryan, Billy Ray Mynatt, Jerry Lemmons, Lee Hite, Joey Hodge and Donnie Lemmons.
