Rose Marie (Storm) Johnson

Rose Marie (Storm) Johnson, age 88, resident of the Laconia Community, joined her husband “Smitty” in heaven on Saturday, September 27, 2014.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Johnson were conducted at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, October 1st at the St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Somerville with Father Stephen Kenny officiating. Personal remarks were given by Pat Cravelli, Deacon Bill Davis, Deacon Mike Blome and Joe Costa. Special music was provided by Annette Costa, soloist. Graveside Services for Mrs. Johnson were conducted at 2:30 P.M. Wednesday, October 1st at the Memorial Park Cemetery on Poplar Avenue in Memphis. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.

A career educator and devoted mother, Mrs. Johnson was a picture of love and kindness. Born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 25 1926, the daughter of the late John Michael Storm and Anna Theresa Dulle Storm, she made Fayette County her home in 1973. For 30 years she was a teacher and principal at Rossville Christian Academy where she was immortalized when the elementary school was named for her at retirement. She was very involved in her parish from its beginning, a staunch supporter of Fayette Cares, and very active with the Friends of the Library.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by seven children, David Johnson (Joan) of Hernando, MS, Michael Johnson (Barbara) of Southaven, MS, Stephen Johnson (Julie) of Matthews, NC, Martha Johnson of Savannah, TN, Susan Johnson of Laconia, Andrew Johnson (Elaine) of Coral Springs, FL, Sally Oliver (Mike) of Collierville; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Miriam Radcliffe and her brother, John Michael Storm, Jr.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were David Johnson, Michael Johnson, Stephen Johnson, Andrew Johnson, Daniel Johnson and Rob Kirksey.
