ROXIE MAY LEWIS (BEAKE) MARTIN

March 29, 1937 — June 20, 2009

ROXIE MAY LEWIS (BEAKE) MARTIN, a resident of Olive Branch, Mississippi, longtime employee of the Fred's/Baddour Corporation and native Fayette Countian died at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, June 20, 2009 at the Trinity Mission Health and Rehabilitation Center in Byhalia, Mississippi where she had been a patient for one day. She was 72 years of age and died following an extended illness of several months.

Funeral services for Mrs. Martin were conducted at 2 P.M. Tuesday, June 23rd at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with interment following in the Hebron Cemetery of the Bethlehem Community. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Martin was born March 29, 1937 in Fayette County. She was the only child of her parents, William Alexander Lewis and Eva May Beake Martin, who preceded in death.

She received her education in the Fayette County Public School System and was a graduate of Fayette County High School in Somerville, Class of 1955.

Mrs. Martin enjoyed many special times in Fayette County as a child while visiting and living with her grandparents and other family members in the Somerville area.

She was a former resident of Memphis and had resided in the Olive Branch Community for the past thirty years.

She was a valued employee of the Fred's Discount Store Corporation serving as a Data Entry and Data Control Supervisor for over thirty years before her retirement.

She was a member of the Gracewood Baptist Church in Olive Branch and she and her family were enthusiastic exhibitors of saddle horses in North Mississippi and West Tennessee for many years.

She enjoyed nature and caring for her yard.

Survivors of Mrs. Martin include two sons, Billy Martin (Renee) of Byhalia, MS and Dewayne Martin of Collierville; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Those honored to serve as casket bearers were Jacob Loveless, John Loveless, Rusty Loveless, Wesley Loveless, Logan Martin and Terry Sherrell.
