Roy Hardy Maness

Roy Hardy “Rockin Roy” Maness, age 70, resident of Oakland, Tennessee and husband of Margaret “Maggie” Murray Maness, departed this life Friday morning, March 23, 2018 at his residence.

A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Maness was at 2 P.M. Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Interment was private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Maness was born February 18, 1948 in Hickory Flat, Mississippi, the son of J.T. Maness and Joyce Blaylock. He received his education in the Memphis City School System and was a 1967 Graduate of Kingsbury High School. He was married March 18, 2011 to Margaret “Maggie” Murray Maness. Mr. Maness was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed fishing, carpentry and woodworking. He served on the Memphis Fire Departments for 25 years as a fireman and scuba diver. He saved many lives as a firefighter. He was a first responder when Elvis died, as well as the Shannon Street tragedy. He had many accomplishments in Memphis and the surrounding areas. Mr. Maness had a love for music, singing and playing the guitar.

Mr. Maness is survived by his wife, Margaret “Maggie” Murray Maness of Oakland, TN; two daughters, Cortney Maness of Lakeland, TN, Tiffany Maness Kee (James) of Memphis, TN; two sons, Rory Maness of Memphis, TN, Tim Maness of Memphis, TN; his mother, Joyce Blaylock of Memphis, TN; and four grandchildren, Cade Maness, Caleigh Maness, McKinley Kee and Jameson Kee.

He was preceded in death by his father, J.T. Maness and his brother, James “Jimmy” Maness.
