Roy Kennith Marbry, resident of the Williston Community, retired Kitchen Countertop Fabricator and husband of Joyce Spicer Marbry died Thursday morning, May 10, 2012 at the Methodist University Hospital in Memphis. He was 74 years of age and died following an extended illness of several months.
Services for Mr. Marbry will be at 3 Saturday afternoon at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with interment in Fayette County Memorial Park on Highway 64 in Oakland. A visitation for Mr. Marbry will be from 1 to 3 Saturday afternoon at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland.
A native of Covington, Tennessee, Mr. Marbry was born July 18, 1937 to the late James Elmer Marbry and the late Nellie Mae Short Marbry. He received his education in the Tipton County Public School System and was married March 6, 1965 to the former Joyce Spicer of Fayette County, who survives. Mrs. Marbry is a longtime employee of the Middlecoff’s Super Drug Store in Somerville.
Mr. Marbry was a member of the Williston Baptist Church and had been a resident of the Williston Community for the past 47 years. He was a former employee of Wonder Products and was also employed as a fabricator of kitchen countertops for T&W Custom Tops in Memphis before his retirement.
Mr. Marbry was a baseball player in earlier years and continued his love for baseball by being an avid television baseball fan. He was a lifelong resident of Tipton and Fayette Counties.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Marbry is survived by two daughters, Sandra Marbry (Zig Kinsland) of the Warren Community, Patty Cannon of Williston; three sisters, Myrtle Ann Pullins of Covington, Mary Ruth Marbry of Covington, Nellie Sue Glover of Williston; four grandchildren, Rebecca Lynn Cannon, Linsey Nicole Cannon, Dylan Wayne Cannon, Cooper Elaine Harden; and one great grandson, Daniel Joe Cannon.
Mr. Marbry was preceded in death by five brothers.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers are Dylan Cannon, Evan Cook, Josh Snipes, Michael Goforth, Burt Kinsland and James Davis.
Honorary casketbearers are Billy Glover and Chris Glover.
