Roy Neal Martin

Roy Neal Martin, age 80, resident of Somerville, Tennessee and husband of Linda A. Martin, departed this life Saturday afternoon, February 3, 2024 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

Roy was born February 11, 1943 in Rives, Missouri, the son of the late James Frank Martin and Birdie Lee Wilson Martin. He received his education in Holland, Missouri and moved to the Memphis area. Roy was employed as a police officer with Memphis Police Department for over 25 years  before his retirement in 1994.

He was most recently a resident of Somerville and a member of Somerville Church of Christ. He enjoyed riding his Gold Wing motorcycle, playing the harmonica and singing in a local band, The Motley Crew. Roy will be remembered for being a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Mr. Martin is survived by his wife, Linda A. Martin; his daughter, Robin R. Bradley; three sons, Jeffery N. Martin (Karen), Kirk Dill (Molly) and Brian Dill (Jennifer); eight grandchildren, Jeffery N. Martin, Jr. (Adriana), Lane J. Martin, Erin M. Martin, Deanna McCutchen (Brandon), Justin Rush, Bryant Dill, Abbie Jackson (Justin) and Alex Inglish (Austin); and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Wanna Mae Weeks; two brothers, Voyd Martin and Harold Dean Martin; and his grandson, Stephen Dill.

Funeral Services for Mr. Martin were held at 1 P.M. Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Somerville Church of Christ with Ryan Manning officiating. Interment followed in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Bartlett, Tennessee.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Jeffery Martin Jr., Lane Martin, Kirk Dill, Brian Dill, Charlie Tines, Aaron Sayers, Ray Motley and Butch Glover. An honorary pallbearer was Ronald Sayers.
