Ruby Godsey Dyer, age 83, resident of Lexington, Tennessee and wife of the late Guy R. Dyer, Sr., departed this life Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Dyer were conducted at 11 A.M. Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Jimmy Burroughs, pastor of the Pine Grove Baptist Church in Lexington, officiating. Interment followed in the Hood Cemetery in the Warren Community. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.
Mrs. Dyer was born February 23, 1933 in Rossville, Tennessee. She received her education in the Collierville School System and was a lifelong resident of West Tennessee. Mrs. Dyer was a member of the Pine Grove Baptist Church and a homemaker throughout her life. She enjoyed tending to her flowers and special times with her family members.
Mrs. Dyer is survived by three sons, Guy Dyer (Kathy) of Huron, TN, Mike Dyer (Teresa) of Byhalia, MS, Chris Dyer (Gloria) of Lexington, TN; her sister, Dorothy Pierce of Barton, MS; five grandchildren, Dalton Dyer, Colton Dyer, Dustin Dyer, Kaylee Dyer, Emerald Dyer, all of Lexington, TN; and her great-grandson, Braden Dyer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy R. Dyer, Sr. who died September 17, 1998; her parents, Jesse Godsey and Maudie Hughes Godsey; her sister, Lorine Wilson; and two brothers, Wilber Godsey and Tilber Godsey.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Dalton Dyer, Colton Dyer, Dustin Dyer, Gary Wayne Teel, Wilber Godsey and Blair Godsey.
