RUTH LEE DAVIS GRIGGS

July 27, 1925 — August 17, 2008

RUTH LEE DAVIS GRIGGS, resident of Adamsville, Tennessee and former resident of Fayette County, died at 2:30 A.M. Sunday, August 17, 2008 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital where she been a patient for two weeks. She was 83 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Funeral services for Mrs. Griggs were conducted at 2 P.M. Monday, August 18th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel near Oakland with the Rev. Willie Davis of Milledgeville, Tennessee, officiating. A Private Interment followed in the Memory Hill Gardens Cemetery in Germantown. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-West Chapel of Oakland.

A former resident of West Memphis, Arkansas, Mrs. Griggs was born July 27, 1925 to George Lee Davis and Hattie May Allen Davis. She was of the Baptist faith and married Bobby James Griggs who preceded her in death in October of 2001.

A devoted mother, grandmother and multi-talented homemaker always thinking of others, she shared her love through her gracious hospitality. She will be remembered for her love of fishing, flower gardening and animals.

Survivors of Mrs. Griggs include her son, Charles Wayne Chambers (Linda) of Adamsville, TN; her sister, Ann Conlee of West Memphis, AR; her brother, Walter Davis of Bartlett; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Taylor Martin, Scott Smith, Frank Chambers and Jim Martin.
